It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Roy Malone of Green River, Wyoming, born in Enid, Oklahoma, who passed away on September 15, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy John Roy leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Riley and Mary Poyner Malone. He is survived by: his daughter Rachel Malone West of Oxford, Mississippi; his granddaughter Mary Katherine West; and his brother James Malone of Ruidoso.

Memorials may be made in his honor to the Pocahontas High School Bands, 2312 Stadium Drive, Pocahontas, AR 72455 or the Green River Wyoming High School Bands, 351 Monroe Ave, Green River, WY 82935.

“We were so sorry to hear of the passing of John. There have been many stories told of Coach John in the last week. One of my favorites was when he did “Swinging” in Puttin On the Hits one year. He had everyone in the building laughing. Another favorite of Coach John was his “Simon Says” games. I believe to this day there was no one as good as he was! Again Roy and our family are praying for peace and comfort for you all. Roy and Sharon Thielemier”
