She was predeceased by: her mother Marian E. Babcock (Hewitt); her husband Hugh Mewes; her sons, Michael E. Allen and Christopher Lee Nelson; her grandson Jeremiah Allen; her uncle Johnny Hewitt; her aunt Margaret Hook (Hewitt); and her cousins, Jimmy and John "Rocky" Hewitt.
She is survived by: her children, Cheryle Tafoya (Dave) and John Nelson (Michelle); her daughter-in-law Debby Nelson; her grandchildren, Nicholas Tafoya (Dana), Tarah Anderson (Ryan), Joshua Allen-Chapa, Gene Allen-Kurpis, Christopher Nelson and Jordan Salazar (André); her great grandchildren, Orion, Gabriel Tafoya, André A. Salazar, Skylee Nelson, Kilynn, Sienna, Vanden and Hazel Kurpis; and her great great grandchild Millie Jo Tafoya.
