He was predeceased by: his parents, William Mathew and Elizabeth Myra Paterson (Gathercole); his wife Vera Paterson; his cousin Stephan Stark; and his uncle Jim Stark.
He is survived by: his children, David Paterson of Louisiana, Autumn Jones of Opal, WY and Kimberly Cretsinger (Wayne) of Opal, WY; his sisters, Ana Collins of Oregon and LeAnn Ray (Calton) of Oregon; and his grandchildren, Michael Cretsinger (Amanda), William Cretsinger (Leesa), Thomas Jones, Joshua Paterson and Christopher Cretsinger. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
