He was predeceased by : his parents, John W. Donovan and Mary A. Donovan (Fitzpatrick); his son Patrick; his son-in-law Jeff Erhardt; his granddaughter Katie Henderscheid; and his great grandchild Davon Keefe.

He is survived by : his wife Dorothy A. Kuemper; his children, Mary Erhardt of Center, Kevin Donovan (Mary) of Bismarck, Danette Donovan of Wheatland, Shane Donovan (Laurie) of Holcomb, Robert Donovan (Robin) of Gillette Wyoming and David Donovan (Shannon) of Marysville, Washington; and his daughter-in-law LeeAnn Donovan (Mark) of Mandan. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, three sisters, one sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
