Lawrence R. McCarthy Obituary
We announce the death of Lawrence R. McCarthy of Surprise, Arizona, born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on August 27, 2026, at the age of 87. Lawrence will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Amelia McCarthy and Lawrence McCarthy; his wife Mary McCarthy; his daughter Jenny McCarthy; and his sister Patricia Zielinski.
He is survived by: his children, Lawrence (Barbara McCarthy), Theresa (Mark McGhee), David (Gabrielle McCarthy), Kevin (Melody McCarthy), Maureen (Michael Boggs), James (Nancy McCarthy) and Paula (Jeffrey Schneider); and his sisters, Marie (James Bastounes) and Alice Laughlin. He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren: twenty-four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Sunwest Funeral Home (12525 NW Grand Ave, El Mirage, AZ 85355).
In lieu of flowers it is requested that a donation be made to the St Judes Children's Hospital in Memory of Lawrence McCarthy.
