He is survived by: his wife Willamena Parrot-Bates "Darla"; his children, John Bates Jr., Christopher, Jacquelyn DeVito-Bates and Jillian Bates; his stepsons, Steven and Samuel Taylor; his grandchildren, Donovan, Brandon Bates, Layla, Lucca Breen of Stevie, JD, Archer and Presley Taylor; and his siblings, George, Michael, Thomas, James Bates, Marie Kavanaugh-Bates and Margaret Petrie-Bates. He is also survived by his extended family and friends.
