Mario Jorge Matos Obituary

We announce the death of Mario Jorge Matos of Spring Hill, Florida, who passed away on August 15, 2026, at the age of 67. Mario will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Furtado Matos and Ermelinda Furtado; and his brothers, Jose Maria Furtado and Joao Calouro. He is survived by: his brothers, Antonio Calouro of Vila Franca, Campo, São Miguel Açores, Eduarda Costa of Ponta Garça and Armanda Pacheco; his wife Lubelia Matos; his daughters, Cathy Arruda (Peter), Holly Matos and Cassandra Matos-Sousa (Francisco); and his grandchildren, Nazalya Carvalho, Evan Arruda and Emanuel Sousa. He is also survived by many nephews and a niece.

Donations will also be accepted to the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation in Mario's honor.
