With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Opal Gugelman of Sabetha, Kansas, who passed away on February 18, 2021 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Frank Marteney and Eva Marteney (Callam); her husband William "Bill" Gugelman; her brothers, Fred, Herbert and Arthur Marteney; and her son-in-law Rick McClain.

She is survived by : her children, Danny Gugelman (Mary Jo) of Vail, Arizona, Debra Soyland (Mike) of Sabetha and DeeAnn Grimes (Rob) of Topeka, Kansas; her sister Donna Johnston (Callam) of Prescott, Arizona; her grandchildren, Angela Lourance (Chris), Alex McClain, William Gugelman (Stephanie), Andrew Gugelman, Nicholas Grimes and Erin Grimes; and her great grandchildren, Spencer Lourance, Brayden Gugelman, Grant Gugelman and Luke Gugelman. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her friends.

Due to Covid 19, masks are required at Popkess Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bern United Methodist Church or the Apostolic Christian Home sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.

Charlene Turner wrote a sympathy message

“I was typing a message when there was a "blip" in the computer and I think it maybe cancelled so will repeat in case it didn't go correctly. I remember visiting with you at family reunions in Stockville and also at funerals in KS. Everyone was always so nice. Our sincerest sympathy in the loss of Opal, who lived such a good and long life.
