It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Maggie Smith of Corbin, Kentucky, who passed away on August 2, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her daughter Teresa Ann Nelson; her parents, Henry Murphy and Lula Slusher Murphy; and her grandson Patrick Taylor. She is survived by: her children, David Nelson (Stacy), Dorothy Daniels (William), Lisa Weddle (Joey Houston), Debbie Weddle and Mike Weddle (Tonya); her grandchildren, Teresa Kearney, Tony Taylor, Angela May, Brittany Weddle, Crystal Johnson, Violet Reyes, Tkeyah McCulley, Brenda Brison, Tiffany Lawson, Travis Nelson, Misty Hill, Mikie Weddle, Eric Turner and Jace Nelson; and her siblings, Dorothy Cox (J. C.) and R. B. Murphy (Jackie). She is also survived by son 28 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home (607 Master St, Corbin, KY 40701). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Lynn Camp Cemetery (215 Lynn Camp Church Rd, Corbin, KY 40701).
