He was predeceased by: his parents, Ella Mae Lyons Rice and Samuel Rice, Jr.; his aunts and uncles, Nelson, Forest, Albert (Cools), Nathan, Hayward, Dan Rice, Elizabeth Rice Walker (Lizzie), Lucille Rice Herman and Willie; his son Lyons Jr.; his aunts, Eldora Lyons (NanNan) and Rosa Lyons (Teedy); his brother-in-law Rufus Levine Jr. (Baby); his niece Sasha-Von Rice; and his great-nephew Justin Rice (Sweetheart Susan Hargrave).
He is survived by: his sons, Curtis Rice and Nathanial Rice of Abbeville, LA.; his grandchildren, Hazel Ellamae Rice, Lyric Monique Rice and Nathaniel Rice Jr.; and his siblings, Ernest Rice Sr. (Gwen), Russel Rice Sr. and Rice Levine (Earline). He is also survived by Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
