He is survived by: his wife Mother Dolores Butler of Lafayette, LA; his children, Samuel Butler Jr. (Hilda), Manuel Butler (Maggie), Samantha Johnson (Bartholomew) of Lafayette, LA, Amanda Butler of Lafayette, LA and Savannah Butler of Opelousas, LA.; his brother Paul Sylvester (Althea) of Channelview, TX; his siblings-in-law, Carenzo Alexander (Mary Alice), Lester Thomas (late LouBertha) of Lafayette, LA, Dale Thomas (Lynn) of Duson, LA, Doris Chaisson (late Harold) of Killeen, TX and Lois Alexander-Dickey (late Ernest) of Lake Charles, LA.; and his grandchildren, Brandon Murray, Braxton Butler, Jacoby Butler, Briana Butler, Kristin Butler, Glen Primeaux Jr. and Logan Butler. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
