He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Lee Jack and Cosside Matthews Jr.; his parents-in-law, Fannie Mae Washington and John Noeal; his sister-in-law Myra G. Joseph; and his aunts and uncles, Gladys Matthews, Marie Jack, Alvin, Toy and Joseph Matthews.
He is survived by: his wife Lillian Washington Matthews; his son Christopher Huval; his goddaughter Wanda Thibodeaux; his siblings, Mitchell P. Thibodeaux (Ollie), Tray Matthews and Roxanne Matthews; his aunt Evelyn Matthews Walker (Leonard); his siblings-in-law, Aleide Washington (Sarah), Ruston Washington (Shata) and Wendy Washington; and his close friend Venus.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Kinchen Funeral Home, Inc. (1011 N St Antoine St, Lafayette, LA 70501).
