He was predeceased by: his parents, John U. Gumbs and Betty Jane Alfred Gumbs; his siblings, Rosalyn M. Gumbs and John J. Gumbs; his fathers-in-law, Joseph C. Bernard and Joseph E. Kennedy; his grandparents, Joseph Dorsey Alfred, Loriana Fiest Alfred, Clarence Gumbs and Geneva S. Gumbs; and his aunts and uncles, Jeffery, Nelson, Joseph, Gerald Alfred, Johnny Francis, Roy Brown, Paul Gumbs, Thelma Francis, Mildred McZeal and Barbara Francis.
He is survived by: his wife Bridget Bernard Gumbs; his sons, La'Marcus John Bernard of Lafayette, LA. and Braylon Chester Bernard of Lafayette, LA.; his sisters, Charlotte A. Gumbs (Mark Malveaux) of Ridge, LA. and Rhonda Gumbs (Milton Boudreaux) of Ridge, LA.; and his nieces and nephews, Jupria Gumbs, Mieltionna Boudreaux, Markell Malveaux and John Gumbs, Jr.. He is also survived by great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and coworkers.
