He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Charles, Sr. and Ada Viltz Charles; his former wife Edna Greene Charles; his daughter Phoebe Charles; his siblings, Michael Charles, Clifford Charles and Laura Charles; his grandparents, Kimbrough Charles, Viola Charles, Oliver Viltz and Lucy Viltz; and his godchildren, Marie White and Kim Charles.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Andrus Charles of Lafayette, LA; his children, Lederian Leday of Lafayette, LA, Lethaniel Leday of Lafayette, LA, Kimberly Charles of Jeanerette, LA and Kelli Charles of Portland, OR; and his siblings, Malcolm Charles, Sr. (Lois) of Jeanerette, LA, Kimbrough Charles (Elaine) of Youngsville, LA, Donald Charles (Gwen) of Youngsville, LA, Louise Matthews of Atlanta, GA, Vivian Armstrong of Jacksonville, FL and Mary Charles of Jeanerette, LA. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 from 8:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church (11200 Old Jeanerette Rd, Jeanerette, LA 70544). A rosary will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
