He was predeceased by: his parents, Addie Prayer of Greenville, NC. and Robert Dixon; his siblings, Barbara-Jean Dixon and Bobby Wayne Dixon; and his son Dawantey Joequan Malachi Dixon.
He is survived by: his daughter Joy Dixon Roster; his brothers, Robert Earl Dixon, Kenny Ray, Samuel Dixon and Timothy Dobson; his son Joey Dixon; his grandchildren, Nasiah Floyd Dixon, Tajanea Marie Barns, Joevonne Cordel Taylor Dixon and Autumn J. C. Taylor Dixon; and his stepchildren, Tracey Rogers, Lisa Salabarria, Luther Floyd, June Cortrell and Lythia Floyd-Curry.
