Mattie L Perry Obituary
Mattie Louise Perry Bonds was born in South Carolina on August 7, 1933. She is one 12 children born to the late Ornsby Bonds and Arizona (Arry) Hines-Bonds.
Mattie was raised in the South, yet at a young age she moved to Boston, MA with her sister, Catherine Moon. Mattie pursued and accomplished her nursing certifications. In 1959 Mattie would also become mother to her eldest son, the late Joshua Bonds. In 1969 Mattie would marry Emmitt Perry. To this union another son, Anthony Perry, was born.
Mattie and Emmitt would divorce in 1992, and Mattie would return to her home of Sampit, South Carolina where she got the reputation as "the little lady in the trailer not to mess with.". Mattie worked on Myrtle Beach for many years and 12 years later, she would move back to Boston, MA to be closer to her children and grandchildren that she missed deeply. Mattie loved her family deeply and unconditionally and would do anything to help care and for them.
Mattie was also a homemaker and loved to clean and decorate a home while listening to old school music. She loved to cook, and honestly should have had her own soul food kitchen show. If you stopped by Mattie's house, be ready to eat even if you're not hungry. Mattie was also a gardener and had a green thumb for growing plants as evidence of the many plants around her house.
Within the last ten years Mattie's health started to decline, but that did not stop her from being independent and doing things for herself. She regularly went shopping with her sister and niece on Fridays, and was caring for her ailing older sister during this time as well.
On August 30th, Mattie claimed eternal life and went home to be with the Lord and celebrate her life and cherish fond memories. She leaves to mourn one son, Anthony Perry (Wife) Rosetta Haynesworth-Perry, 4 Grandchildren; Elon Bonds, Toni Perry, Anthony Perry, Jr. , Beautiful Nelson and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, in-laws and friends.
