He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul and Beatrice Devlin (Byrnes); and his sister Mary Stirzaker. He is survived by: his wife Kaye Gaines; his sister-in-law Karuna Kramer; and his close friend Scout.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Empath Suncoast Hospice Foundation in Rick's honor.
