He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Leroy and Fannie Ackerman; his wife Beatrice Ackerman; and his siblings, Fruitin, Riddic, Johnny, Frank, Carl, Thomas, Jaqueline, Mary, Daisy and Miriam.
He is survived by: his siblings, Shirley Brown and Oscar Ackerman (Sharleen); his granddaughters, Jamey and Jemaine Reid; his nephews, Tommy Ackerman and James Dowling, Jr.; and his niece Essence Maston. He is also survived by other family members, extended family.
