She was predeceased by: her husband George F. Carroll; her parents, Mary H. Donovan Donovan (McCarthy) and Dr. Robert J. Donovan; and her sisters, Katherine Cullen and Dorothy MacDonald.
She is survived by: her daughters, Jean Kane (Brian) of Brookline and Catherine Marquis (Stephen) of Framingham; her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Lillian Kane; her siblings, Mary Louise Ruth (Vincent), Clare Schwelm and William Donovan (Claire); and her children, Robert C. Donovan, Frances McManus and Edward D. Donovan. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to either the Sherrill House, Jamaica Plain; St. Mary's Building Fund, Brookline; Sisters of the Holy Cross, Notre Dame, Indiana; or a local food bank.
