He was predeceased by : his parents, Ambrose Tynan and Anna Tynan; and his sister Kathleen Tynan. He is survived by : his wife Kathleen "Kathy" (Kelly); his children, Sean (Kate), Kelly Ann, Brian and Conor Tynan; his grandchildren, Caroline and Dermot Tynan; and his siblings, Charles Tynan and Nancy Ellen Cederholm. He is also survived by many aunts, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in John's memory may be made to the Killeagh Inch Parish Fund.
