He was predeceased by : his mother Evelyn Bell; and his siblings, William Bell, Alfred "Buddy" Bell, Norman Bell, Robert "Bobby" Bell and Jean Bean.

He is survived by : his daughter Wendy Bethoney (Mansour Bethoney); his grandsons, Reece and Quinn Bethoney; his former life partner Dorothy Bell; and his brother Richard "Dickie" Bell. He is also survived by father to his daughter and cherished his role of "Papa" to his grandsons.
