He is survived by: his children, Jermaine, Tyrone, Jonathan and Erica; his grandchildren, Jermaine Jr., Jaden, Tywone, Emyian, Chance, Sean Allen, Jordan and Khamari; his great grandchildren, Tamir and Londyn; his nieces, Valrie Washington and Ava Brown; his daughters-in-law, Diane and Moaney; and his close friend Peggy Kellman.
His extraordinary contribution to broadcasting was recognized in 1987 when Governor William Donald Schaefer officially proclaimed him "The High Priest of Soul.".
