He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Henry Sumpter and Aldonia King-Whitehurst; his children, Lorenzo Mewborn (Carmita) of Grifton, NC and Alisha Newton (Currie) of Baltimore, MD; and his sisters, Janice King of Baltimore, MD and Barbara Andrews (William) of Greenville, NC. He was also cherished by six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; seven aunts; two uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
