He is survived by: his daughter Denell Shelly (Charles); his grandchildren, Keina Bishop (Kachet Brock), Cierra Williams, Brea Batson (Nekco Bryant) and Charles Shelly Jr. (LaShawn); his great grandchildren, Bradley Carter, Kasey Bryant, Nekco Bryant Jr., Cameron Shelly, Armani Shelly, Ayana Modeste, Amiya Modeste, Malik Simmons and Taj Simmons; his siblings, Constance Ennis, McCarthy (Al) and Elbert Matthews (Niola); his close friend William Stokes; Tomeka Bishop. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
