Verona P. Blackston Obituary

Verona Pauline Blackston, 83, of Baltimore, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Verona carried her caring spirit throughout her life. She devoted over 30 years of service as a Nurse's Aide with the Maryland Department of Health at Spring Grove Hospital Center, where she provided comfort, dignity, and care to countless patients. Her career reflected her deep commitment to helping others, which continued until her retirement following a work-related injury.

A faithful and devoted member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Verona found strength in her faith and joy in fellowship. Her church community was an important part of her life, and she remained grounded in her beliefs, which guided her actions and relationships.

Verona will be remembered as a loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She found her greatest happiness in caring for her family, sharing her wisdom, and creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Her kindness, resilience, and gentle spirit touched all who knew her.

She joined her Mother, Pauline Drummond; her brothers Larry, Alonzo and Amado Drummond; sisters Chiquita Drummond and Pauline (Pinky) Sanders, who all welcomed her home. She left behind her Son, Wade and daughter-in-law, Thelma Blackston, Sister, Genette Johnson; Nephews, Allen, Troy, Sr., Thias, Cubby, and a host of cousins and friends who will continue to honor her life and legacy.

A special thank you to Linda Forde, mommy's nurse.

In honoring her memory, the family asks that she be remembered for her compassion, her strength, and the love she so freely gave.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
