Allen Gene Smith Obituary

Allen Gene Smith age 72 of Kalamazoo passed away Monday morning, May 18, 2026. Allen was born in Kalamazoo on June 20, 1953, the son of Billy Gene and Savannah Albertine (Beauchamp) Smith. On August 21, 1981, he married Carol Wall who survives him. Allen graduated from Comstock High School. He worked for 44 years at General Motors where he also met his wife. Allen was a licensed builder. Allen and Carol loved to travel. Every year, in the summer, they spent at Silver Lake Sand Dunes with "Team Poop.". Every November for 30 years they went to the Bahamas, which was his favorite place to go. He was a regular at McGonigle's Irish Pub, a place where everyone knew his name. He loved music, especially the music of Elvis. He listened to his music every chance he got. Besides his wife, Allen is survived by his daughters, Xara O'Karn Wall and Megan Savannah Smith; son, Joshua Allen Smith; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Hector Rivera) Smith; Grandson, Matthew Smith; great-grandson, Kai; sister, Barbara (Charlie) Waits; brothers, Mike Smith and Roger Smith; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Allen was preceded in death by his parents.
