He was predeceased by: his parents, John VanderWeele and Ruth VanderWeele (Sootsman). He is survived by: his wife Denise "Dennie" VanderWeele (Morrill); his children, Kim Mida (Jason), Brian VanderWeele (Briana), Beth Laninga (Eric) and Kristin Gower (Michael Garth); his grandchildren, Ella, Sam, Hayden of Ashton, CJ, Cody and Eva; and his siblings, Paul VanderWeele (Barb) and Judy VanderWeele.
Additionally, he worked with Kalamazoo Valley Gleaners, a charity that processes surplus produce and feeds the hungry globally.
