He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob VanderKooy and Gertrude VanderKooy (Van Someren); and his siblings, Calvin VanderKooy (Marilyn), Vernon VanderKooy (Nella Mae) and Marjorie Scheffers (Rud).
He is survived by: his wife Mary Jo VanderKooy (Bonnema); his children, Steven VanderKooy (Katherine) and Julie Reisner (Daniel); his grandchildren, Payton Reisner, Ashley VanderKooy, Samuel Reisner and Aaron VanderKooy (Gennavieve); and his great grandchild Magdalene "Maggie" VanderKooy.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Westside Chapel (3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Family & Children Services, Kalamazoo Christian Schools, or Southern Heights Christian Reformed Church.
