He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Stoops and Florence Stoops (Loehr); his wife Gail Liskovec; his brother Lewis; and his close friend Jim "Jungle" Powell.

He is survived by: his children, Michele Bennett, Jeff Stoops and Anthony Stoops; and his sister Delores Williams of Kalamazoo. He is also survived by Five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services - Westside (3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A reception will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
