Frances Mae Cook Obituary

Cremation will take place, and the family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, beginning at 1:00 pm, at Heritage Glen Golf Club, 29795 Heritage Lane Paw Paw, MI 49079. The family will receive friends at the clubhouse beginning at 12:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Kalamazoo Family and Children's Services, c/o the funeral home.

Age 89, of Kalamazoo, passed away at Bronson Hospital on June 30, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Kalamazoo on May 7, 1936, the daughter of the late Valentine and Josephine (Elais) Varvir. Frances was raised in Kalamazoo and attended Kalamazoo Central. She was kind, loving and had a servant's heart. She began a family, and her heart and home were always open to those in need. Frances was a loving mother and extremely proud and caring grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked hard at Kalamazoo Family and Children Services until retiring in 1998. When not working she enjoyed taking Sunday drives to go to Lake Michigan and summer trips to Cedar Point and was also a gifted seamstress. She also enjoyed creating memorable moments with her sister, Barbara. Above all Frances loved spending time watching her family grow and she leaves behind wonderful memories to be cherished. She is survived by four children, Pam Landis, Emma Marie Johnson, Randy (Phyllis) Cook, Grant (Tracy) Cook; grandchildren, Tom Cook, Michael (Stacy) Cook, Pamela (Katie) Rose, Sarah (Drew) Thompson, Joseph (Kayla) Cook, Ken Rose, Michael (Janelle) Landis, Alexandria (Tim) Cavanagh, Megan Kersey, Jenna Cook; twelve great-grandchildren; siblings, Barbara Sanders and Don Varvir; many extended family and friends. Frances also preceded in passing by a son, Frank Cook; grandson, David Cook; siblings, Pete, Mary, Rosie, Cecilia, Rudy, John, Joe, Dorothy, Jeanette.
