Jack S. Boykin Obituary
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Jack's life will be held at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St. Kalamazoo, MI 49001, on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 1:30p.m. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30p.m. one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery beginning at 3:00p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Pipe Band, c/o the funeral home.
Age 91, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away at Plainwell Pines on November 2, 2025. He was born on October 13, 1934, in Kalamazoo, the son of the late Carl and Mary Alice (Stevens) Boykin. After graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served our country with honor. He was stationed at Antigua where he lived for a time. After being honorably discharged, he returned to make Kalamazoo his home. He owned and operated B&B Break Service for many years, working hard to provide for his family. When not working he enjoyed golfing, camping and fishing on Pine Lake and road trips in his motor home. He had a passion for all things Irish and Scottish and was a drummer in the Kalamazoo Pipe Band. He was also a member of Maddogs and Englishman Car Club and the Kalamazoo Elks Lodge. Above all Jack loved his family and was a dedicated husband, involved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His smile, handshake and kindness will be missed by all who loved him. On June 26, 1953, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann (Newlun) Boykin who preceded him in passing in 1998. He was also preceded in passing by a daughter, Laura Boykin; son-in-law, Robert Shipe; sister, Billie Jean Dorn. Jack is survived by his loving daughter, Linda Shipe; grandchildren, Heather (David Keast) Berry, William (Dawn Glover) Shipe; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Zackry Berry and Alycea Shipe; extended family and friends.
