He was predeceased by: his parents, Arend "Arie" Gritter and Johanna Gritter (Glas). He is survived by: his wife Judy Gritter (Wheeler); his children, Benjamin "Ben" Gritter (Steph) and Molly Spangenberg (Luke); his grandson Arie Spangenberg; his brothers, Marvin Gritter (Susan), Mark Gritter (Cherri) and Joel Gritter (Jody); and his brothers-in-law, Richard Wheeler (Betsy) and David Wheeler (Jerrie). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services - Westside (3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009).
