Jeffrey R. Wells Obituary
A service in witness to Jeff's life and faith will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Westwood Christian Reformed Church, 620 Northampton Rd., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family Monday, November 24, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Jeff will be laid to rest at Boughton Cemetery, Pavilion Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Westwood Christian Reformed Church, or the Luke Society, in c/o the funeral home. Gratefully, Jeff's testimony will live. "I have studied the Resurrection. It actually happened, and it has made all the difference.".
Age 73 of Kalamazoo passed away early Friday morning, November 14, 2025. Jeff was born in Grand Rapids, MI, on October 27, 1952, the son of Lawrence and Madonna (Moore) Wells. On October 5, 1979, he married Cheryl Wolthuis who survives him. Jeff loved music and was a classical guitarist. He especially liked sacred music. He faithfully played for church every week on the praise team. Jeff loved his family and he enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He hosted a weekly burger night at home with his family and sometimes friends. He loved the beauty of God's creation and taking long walks in the woods. One of his favorite hymns was "This is My Father's World.". Nothing was more important to him than his faith. Having lived his life as an atheist, Jeff was led to the Lord while in his 20's. by his friend, Dave Schwabauer. He was interested in Christian apologetics and enjoyed reading and studying the Christian faith. Besides his wife, Jeff is survived by his daughters, Sarah (Jacob) DeBoer and Rebekah (Andrew) Smith; grandchildren, Ryan (Sharon) DeBoer, Matthew DeBoer, David DeBoer, Ethan DeBoer, Levi DeBoer, Caroline DeBoer, Josiah Smith, Zechariah Smith, Timothy Smith, Abigail Smith, Lucan Smith; brother, Carl Craig (Fernanda) Blankenburg; sister, Kay Fredericks; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jacob and Florence Wolthuis; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends, including his four legged friend, Molly. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents.
