In the sacred silence of farewell, Joan is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. She was predeceased by: her parents, Peter DeVries and Josie DeVries (Bussema); her husband Franklin VanOosten; her brother Roger; and her sister-in-law Wilma DeVries.
She is survived by: her children, Douglas VanOosten (Patricia), Dennis VanOosten (Kay), Michelle Mejeur (Kevin) and Mark VanOosten (Pamela); and her brother Howard DeVries (Anne). She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 28th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Home (3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009).
