He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Chmiel and Catherine Chmiel (Clark); his wife Barbara Frucci; and his sister Ella Jo. He is survived by: his children, John Chmiel (Heidi) of Battle Creek, MI, Catherine Street of Portage, MI, James Chmiel (Jennifer) of Indianapolis, IN and David Chmiel (Shelley) of Pittsburgh, PA; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Jac Chmiel, David Street, Abigail, James, Michael Chmiel, Ryan and Mason Chmiel; his stepgrandchildren, Jennifer Wright (Scott) and Benjamin Dobbertien (Johanna); and his great grandchild Alexandra Wright. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Barbara M. Chmiel Charitable Fund at Kalamazoo Community Foundation, Ministry with Community, or St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
