John A. Stephens Obituary

John A. Stephens, age 77, of Kalamazoo, passed away on May 4, 2026, at Kairos Dwelling surrounded by loved ones. John was born in El Dorado, AR, on January 13, 1949, the son of the late John and Jane (Beene) Stephens. John was a loving man who lived his life to the fullest. He worked hard as a builder on construction projects. When not working he enjoyed many pastimes. He was an accomplished skydiver logging over 2, 000 jumps. He also enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, photography, tinkering around the home and working on computers. His greatest passion came from spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with whom he leaves many cherished memories. He is survived by three children, Garrett (Vickey) Stephens, John Stephens II, Sarah (Dan) Alvarez; grandchildren, Garrett Stephens, Callob Stephens, Cassandra Gillespie, Mariah Stephens, Royce Alvarez, Roman Alvarez, Reeva Alvarez and Rocco Alvarez; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mary; many extended family and friends. John was also preceded in passing by a daughter, Kristi Stephens; two brothers, George and James.
