She was predeceased by: her parents, Valerie Natalie Rys (Loretta) and Joseph George Novak. She is survived by: her siblings, Joseph, Valerie (Valerie), John, Janus and Raymond; her sons, James "Jamie" Houston (Hallie DeMarco) and Benjamin Joseph Houston (Sarah Kaylor); her grandchildren, Olivia Rae, Hannah Elizabeth, Carly Louvenia, Liliana Madeleine, Neyla Marie and Maximus Benjamin Houston; and her sisters-in-law, Jean Sweeney Novak, Karen Pinch Novak, Mary Williams (Michael), Annette, Tangelia Smith (Marshall) and Ola Johnson (Arthur).
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (936 Lake St, Kalamazoo, MI 49001). A Mass will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of a memorandum, contributions can be made to The Loretto Community, (Loretto Mother House, 515 Nerinx Rd., Nerinx, Kentucky 40049-9999), whose work of social justice, environmental action and peace continues in the work of her extraordinary members and colleagues, or to a charity of one's choice.
