Mary (Klosterman) Hahn Obituary
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm at Third Christian Reformed Church, 2400 Winchell Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49008. The memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Jason Olson officiating, followed by a time of food and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Albert Klosterman and Mary Klosterman-Hahn Tuition Assistance fund at the Kalamazoo Christian Schools or Third Christian Reformed Church.
Mary Dean DeBoer Klosterman-Hahn's Lord and Savior called her home on June 17, 2026. She was born March 12, 1931, in Oak Park, IL, to Andrew and Bernice (Dykhuis) DeBoer and lived her adult life in Kalamazoo, MI.
She was united in marriage to Albert John Klosterman on April 29, 1952, who preceded her in death in 1988. On November 24, 1990, she married Norman Paul Hahn who preceded her in death in 2005.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (John) Bartels, Marcia (Chuck) Dykstra, Joni (Rudy) Dykhuis and step-children, Chris (Connie) Hahn, Sandy (Tom) Dailey, Pat (John) Durham, and Jan Hahn. Also surviving are grandchildren and step-grandchildren: David (Caroline) Bartels and Karyn (Dan) DeKorne; Mary (Dave) Adams, John (Heidi) Dykstra and James (Alice) Dykstra; Jeff (Heather) Groendyk and Anna (Amy) Crandall; Scott and Erin Hahn; Camela Littlepage and Susanna (Jeremy) Breitweiser; Corrie (Phil) Hillary and Ann (Craig Ortner) Durham; Dan, Ben and Laura Severance; and 21 great grandchildren; siblings Andrew (Cynthia) DeBoer and Joan DeJonge and sister-in-law, Dorothy DeBoer. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul and in-laws, Ruth and Bob Overbeck and Karl DeJonge.
Mary was a member of Third Christian Reformed Church where she volunteered in many capacities through the years. She was also a long-time faithful volunteer for the Kalamazoo Christian Schools. Mary's faith was central in her life. She lived a life of service to others and to her Savior. Her family was her greatest joy. Sadly, she dealt with memory loss for the past several years, but she continued to know and love her family and never lost her heart of gratitude and sweet spirit. We do not grieve as those without hope; we stand firm on the promises that Jesus' life, death, and resurrection bring.
The family would like to thank the staff at Woodside/. Special Care Unit (Friendship Village) and Centrica Hospice for their tender, loving care for our mom. It added to her quality of life. The warm smiles and tender hugs blessed her daily and she considered her caregivers as friends.
