With sadness, we share the passing of Nelson Peter Timmer Sr. (Kalamazoo, Michigan). Nelson, born on April 12, 1930, passed away on September 14, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Cornelius Timmer and Gertrude Timmer (Kreling); his siblings, Henry, David, Arthur, Adrian, Len Timmer and Marie Polderman; and his great grandchildren, Marie and Madeleine.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Verburg; his children, Kathy VanUnen (Mike), Nancy Engelsma (Ted), Linda DenHollander, Nelson Timmer Jr. (Lori) and Kimberly Timmer; his siblings, Bill Timmer (Linda), Gerald Timmer (Pauline) and Cora DeBat; and his siblings-in-law, Alberta Timmer, Leona Timmer and John Polderman. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services - Westside (3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation (108 Pratt Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49001). A graveside service was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park (3941 S Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49008).
