It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert Duane Heemstra of Kalamazoo, Michigan, who passed away on May 6, 2026, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Heemstra and Arlieth Heemstra (Eldred); and his siblings, Louis Schrader and Janice Feltenbarger. He is survived by: his wife Luanne Heemstra; his children, Dave Heemstra, Beth Sweet (Ken) and Marc Heemstra; his grandchildren, Lindsay Cleary (Craig), Nate Heemstra, Whitney Taylor, Tyler Heemstra, Kaitlin Sweet (Brian), Cody Heemstra (Brittani) and Kaysee Munn (Mason); his great grandchildren, Bennett, Reese, Quinn, Ryder, Gunner, Mac and Zoe; and his brother Arlie Heemstra (Kathy). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
