Robert E. Hostetler Obituary

In accordance with his wish, cremation will take place and private family remembrances will be held. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o the funeral home.

Robert Eugene Hostetler, age 76, of Kalamazoo, MI, passed away at Bronson Hospital on June 6, 2026. He was born in Kalamazoo on November 8, 1949, the son of the late Samual and Edith (Holderman) Hostetler. He remained a lifetime resident of Kalamazoo and always enjoyed being near his family and friends. Robert met and married Carla (Tackett) Hostetler who preceded him in passing in 2016. Together they raised three children and Robert worked hard to provide a home where all were made to feel welcome. He worked as truck driver and held other jobs throughout the years. He was a handy mechanic who loved working on trucks, cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed racing cars and traveling the open road in his semi-truck. For a time, he owned and operated an auto shop. Above all Robert loved spending time with his family and was especially proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Bridget Hostetler, Robert Hostetler Jr. and Debra (David) Liby; grandchildren, Justin Hostetler, Amanda (Zach) Sharp, Derrick Hostetler, Chelsea (Ryan) Webb, Tyler Liby, Zachary Liby; ten great-grandchildren; two siblings, Kenneth Hostetler and Diane Keith. He was also preceded in passing by a brother, Sam Hostetler.
