Ron will be laid to rest in a graveside service on Monday, June 22, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at Ft. Custer National Cemetery 15501 W. Dickman Rd., Augusta. Those wishing to attend should meet in the cortege assembly area of the cemetery at 1:15 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, in c/o the funeral home.

Ronald E. Wertz Sr. age 88 of Kalamazoo passed away Sunday evening, June 7, 2026. Ron was born in Kalamazoo on June 9, 1937, the son of Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Galbraith) Wertz. He was a graduate of Comstock High School. Ron proudly served his nation in the United States Army. On November 23, 1966, he married Jennifer Jill Amick who survives him. Ron was an avid sports fan. He loved the Detroit Tigers and the University of Michigan teams. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Nothing was more important to him than spending time with his grandson. Everything was about family for him. Besides his wife, Ron is survived by his son, Ron (Megan) Wertz Jr.; grandson, Brenden (Samantha) Wertz; sister, Audrey Jenkins; nieces and nephews; and many friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, April Wertz; eight siblings.
