She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Orrin Lawrence and Marion Elizabeth Ensfield Jr. (Kish); her stepchildren, Jill Chan (Tony) of Portage and Andrew Buursma (Peggy) of Ada; her grandchildren, Nicholas, Thomas Buursma, Ryan and Karilyn Chan; her brothers, Larry Ensfield (Rose Pharres) of Shelbyville and Craig Ensfield (Janice) of Milan; her nephews, Brett Ensfield (Kathryn), Craig Ensfield Jr. and Carl Ensfield (Lisa); her niece Amanda Haverdink (Chris); her uncle Carl Kish (Sally); and her cousins, Arnold Ensfield (Carolyn) and Dr. Robert Ensfield (Kay).
She was instrumental in helping the Grand Rapids Chapter of the American Heart Association develop the GO RED FOR WOMEN movement. During her career, Sharon was honored with such awards as the Hugo Lupinski Public Health Services Award, Outstanding Women in Health Care from the Michigan Woman's Foundation, and the YWCA Women of Achievement Gallery Award.
