Ted R. Vardaman Obituary

A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Jim Dyke officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators Hospice, c/o the funeral home.

Age 80, passed away at his home on August 30, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Muncie, IN, on May 14, 1944, the son of the late Hattie (Wyrick) Morris and step-father Herman Morris. Ted grew up in Mattawan and graduated from Mattawan High School Class of 1962. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army and served our country until being honorably discharged. He would serve many more years in the Army Reserve. Ted married the love of his life, Patricia (Van Daff) Vardaman in 1968. Together they made their home in Southwest Michigan. He worked hard as a truck driver for many years. When not working, he enjoyed his collection of classic cars, attending car shows, was a member of Cruisin' Classics of Kalamazoo and could often be found watching the Meechum Auctions on television. He was fiercely loyal to the Budweiser brand. Ted and Pat spent every summer on McCoy Lake in Leroy, MI, with his friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. Above all Ted loved his family and his friends and was especially close with his two granddaughters. Ted was a loving husband, father, "Papa", uncle, brother and friend who will be missed by all. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Pat; daughter, Marcy "Girl" Kilduff; two granddaughters, Callie Mae Kilduff and Shayla Rae Kilduff; three sisters and brother; former son-in-law, Chris Kilduff; nephews, Brad and John Echtinaw; a sister-in-law, Linda Pfeifer, who remained by Pat and Ted's side to the end. He was also preceded in passing by a brother.
