She was predeceased by: her parents, Alonzo Holmes and Leona Burton; her husband Hesidee Gardner; her son Tony Gardner; her siblings, Herbert Holmes, Iona Robinson, Olivia Hughes and Connie Embry; her nephew Barney Gilbert; and her grandson Daemond Burns (La'Twan Burns).
She is survived by: her children, Leona Burns, Vicky Burns, Justin Burns and Pam Williams (Marvin); her brothers, Rev. Lewis Holmes and Reb Isaiah Aycox; and her grandchildren, Tiffany Burns, Antoine Burns (Irene), Theodore Johnson Jr., U'Shica Burns, Moneka Burns, Justine Reese, Shana, Quiana Burns, Javon Johnson and Ebony Johnson. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins.
