Wilhelmina Maring Obituary

Wilhelmina 'Wilma' Maring, age 93 of Kalamazoo, died on December 27, 2021. She was born July 13, 1928, in Den Haag, Netherlands, the daughter of Abram and Margje (Gelderbloom) Van de Ven. On April 2, 1952, Wilma married John Maring. In 1955, the family immigrated to the Kalamazoo area. Wilma was a lifetime member of Grace Christian Reformed Church and loved Bible Study. She was involved with many activities with Milestone Senior Services. She was a seamstress and enjoyed knitting and reading. Wilma's most cherished time was with her family and visiting with friends. Her family includes her children: Klaas (Sherry) Maring, Marja (David) DeVries, Jannie (Ron) Glerum, and Suzy (Jim) Lemmer; she was Oma to 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; her brothers: Henk Van de Ven, Cornelius Van de Ven, and Bep Van de Ven; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 2008, her parents, and her sister Sean Witvliet. Friends may visit with her family on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 10:00- 11:00 AM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM. A burial will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wilma's name to Milestone Senior Services.
