He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Wei-Tei Hong and Rebecca Ting Ping Hong. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his daughters, Jean Lin, Sarah Hong and Martha Sidhu; his son-in-law Harmail Sidhu; and his sisters, Marian Yu of Hong Kong and Lily Cheung of Toronto.
