He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard John and Juanita Kusterer of Georgia; and his brother Peter Kusterer (Joyce). He is survived by: his wife Carol N. Kusterer; his children, Robert Kusterer (Betty), Paul Kusterer (Sandi) and Katie Taylor (Ryan); his grandchildren, Aaron, Tyler, Timothy, Conner, Megan, Joshua, Eric, Liana, Bethany, Alexander and Julia; his great grandchildren, Emma and Henry; and his sister Patricia Avery (late Robert).

Memorials may be made in Don's name to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
