He was predeceased by: his sister Jerry E. Trainum; his half-sisters, Edver Pope, Earline Smith, Bessie Jeter, Mary Byrd and Esther Roberts; his brothers, Hugh and Joe Downen; and his half-brothers, Nathan Earnest, Bill, Wallace and Douglas Downen.
He is survived by: his wife Ann Douglas Downen; his sons, Danny Downen (Rhonda) of Middleton, TN and Darren H. Downen (Lorrie) of Hernando, MS; his brother Robert Downen of Middleton, TN; his grandchildren, Daniel Downen (Amanda), Beth Stone (Tyson), Elizabeth Graham (Brandon), Lee Downen and Claire D. Agner (Josh); and his great grandchildren, Haley, Eli, Lindsay, Harrison, Lilly, Ella, Lucy, Ollie, Rhodes and Rosalee.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to Grays Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in honor of Leon H. Downen.
