He is survived by: his wife Leola Pittman-Bates; his children, Priscilla Brown (Norman), Elisa Ann Bates-Williams (David), Thomas Bates (Lawanda Jackson) and Douglas Bates; his grandchildren, Jessica, Daniel, Devin, Dr. Normanda Brown, Justyn, David III (Mouse), Denver-Danae and Kaiden; his great grandchildren, Karasi, Jacob, Hayden-Penelope and Demi-Danae; his grandchildren, Shajuana, Joanie, Ari, Reaghan and Gernie; and his siblings, Evorn Brown (Robert Lee), Donice Nell Ard, Samuel Rollins and Jimmie Rollins.
